Alex Portnoy

She is probably carrying all kinds of shikse venereal diseases

Portnoy's Complaint is probably the most candid book about sex and masturbation I've ever read, and probably ever written (pornographic novels aside, and even they would struggle to keep (it) up in comparison). Even if it spends as much time dealing with his relationship with his overbearing parents, and their determined jewishness, as it does his relationship with his penis. Philip Roth's story of a jewish guy's sex life is also entirely compelling, a great insight into certain functions within the male mind. It is relentless. Apparently it was even banned in Australia upon its release way back in '65, although that's most likely because they didn't know what 'circumcised' meant.
